Cornubia is derived from the Latin phrase Cornubia Batholith, commonly used to define the gigantic underground granite structure upon which the historic county of Cornwall resides.
Cornubian Sound Archive is a research project dedicated to exploring and contextualising the sonic histories of a people and a landscape which identifies as idiosyncratic, isolated and insufferably proud. From the more entrenched use of music to defend and protect the Cornish language to at times tenuous connections to broader musical genres and scenes within the UK – this project seeks to highlight these wildly varying connections within a defined geography and amplify those relationships to create new context and understanding for both new and old audiences alike.
